I love mixing and matching fabric patterns and using different textures to create quilts that look like artwork.
Meet
Krista Helton
Krista comes from a long line of quilters. Her grandmothers and great grandmothers on both sides of the family were quilters and hand stitched and embroidered a quilt that is now registered with a Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society. Quilting has always been a big part of her family history, and Krista is keeping that tradition alive.
Krista studied graphic design at The School of Advertising Art in Dayton, OH and now uses that design talent through quilting and creating fiber art projects. In 2018, Krista started out volunteering at a local group home for kids in foster care, teaching them sewing and giving them an outlet to be creative. That’s when she realized she loved teaching and has since worked with a few local non-profit art centers in the Cincinnati area.
She has taught sewing at kids’ camps and has led workshops and classes for adults. Most recently, one of Krista’s quilts was exhibited as part of the "New Quilts from an Old Favorite: Roaring Twenties” exhibit at the National Quilt Museum.
Krista was born and raised in the Southwest Ohio area and currently lives in Cincinnati. Her favorite thing to do is spend time with her dog JuneBug!
