Course Description:

This course is designed specifically for beginners to build their sewing skills and increase their confidence, not to mention, have fun getting to know fellow sewists.

The project you’ll be making over the next 6 weeks is an upcycled patchwork tote bag. There’s so much more to this project and course than just making a bag. You’ll learn to choose fabric from upcycled sources, to understand the pattern pieces and even how to adjust them to customize your end product. You’ll also get to experiment with piecing fabrics to create a unique and sustainably made tote bag all while gaining foundational sewing skills including straight stitch, corners, linings, zippers and more.

• Sewing machine • Scissors • Ruler • Flexible measuring tape • Seam ripper • Thread • Iron • Ironing board/table • Sewing pins • Scrap/patchwork fabrics (1 yard) • Canvas fabric (1 yard) • Interfacing (1 yard)
