Over the course of six weeks, students will dive into the world of sewing by crafting a timeless wrap shirt. This class will provide a comprehensive introduction to essential sewing skills, from reading and customizing patterns to mastering precise cutting and sewing techniques. Participants will explore the versatility of the wrap shirt design, learning how to alter and personalize it to suit their style, whether it's adjusting sleeve lengths, experimenting with hem variations, or creating unique asymmetrical designs.
Beyond the hands-on sewing experience, this course will also offer a fascinating look into the history of the wrap garment, tracing its origins and evolution across different cultures and eras. By the end of this course, students will not only have a beautifully crafted wrap shirt but also a deeper appreciation for the art and history of sewing.
This course is ideal for both beginners looking to build foundational skills and experienced sewers eager to expand their knowledge and creativity. Join us to sew your way to a chic, custom wrap shirt and enrich your understanding of fashion history.

Students will be introduced to the functionality and start of the Wrap, who popularized it, and how it is a universal garment that can be worn from childhood to adult.
Each shirt bodice is the same, but students will have the choice to choose different collar, cuff, and sleeve length types.
Students will learn the terminology behind pattern making / reading, while understanding how to cut on the correct grainline.
Students will learn how to layout cut fabric pieces and pin them together to prep for sewing. This includes ironing the interfacing to the facing of the garment.
Sew the garment together step by step.
Students will fit garment on model or self. Wrap shirts are size friendly and can fit several ranges.
